[Voyage] Visiter Bristol en 2 jours – Jour 1

Il y a deux semaines, j’ai fait une pause avec la city en allant découvrir Bristol dont je ne connaissais peu de choses. Nommée ville où il fait le mieux vivre, Bristol est une ancienne ville portuaire située dans le sud de l’Angleterre. Le commerce triangulaire ainsi que la construction navale ont fait la fortune de cette ville. Allez on y va?

Two weeks ago, I made a break with the city going to discover Bristol which I knew little about. Nominated as the best town to live in, Bristol is an old port city situated in southern England. Triangular Trade and shipbuilding made the fortune of this city. Shall we go now?

Partie de Londres aux alentours de 10h du matin, je suis arrivée à midi à Bristol par un train de la First Great Western. Vite je dépose mon sac de voyage à l’hôtel pour optimiser cette première après-midi.

I left London at around 10 am, I arrived at noon in Bristol by a train of the First Great Western. Quickly I drop my bag at the hotel to maximize my stay there.

Mais d’abord pause déjeuner au Bagel Boy. C’est un chouette resto/ bar à la déco moderne et urbaine. Ils proposent différentes sandwich et je me suis laissée tenter par le Queen’s rag. Habituellement, c’est bagel au boeuf en salaison mais il n’en avait plus en réserve du coup ils l’ont remplacé par du pastrami. Ce n’est pas plus mal j’en ai souvent entendu parlé mais jamais goûté.

But first lunch break at Bagel Boy. It is a nice restaurant / bar with modern and urban decor. They offer different sandwiches and I’ve been tempted by the Queen’s rag. Usually it is a bagel filled with salted beef but they ran out of salted beef. They offered to replace it with pastrami. I was ok with it since I never tried pastrami before.

Le sandwich était excellent avec un cheddar fondu comme j’aime. Je suis une nouvelle adepte du pastrami. Les oignons rings étaient réussis.

The sandwich was excellent with melted cheddar as I like. I am officially a new fan of pastrami. The onions rings were really good to.

Je démarre la visite de cette ville en allant me balader dans le quartier de harbourside qui est en fait le zone portuaire réaménagée en zone residentielle et touristique.

I started the Bristol visit with a walk aroung the harbourside, which is actually the port area transformed into a residential and touristical area

J’ai adoré marché le long du port et découvrir le mayflower, le premier bateau à vapeur jamais construit est une production bristoléenne. En continuant la marche, vous verrez sans doute un train à vapeur débuter son voyage. Bristol est une ville suprenante où l’art urbain fait partie du paysage. Il surgit de nulle part à un moment où vous ne l’attendez pas.

I loved walking along the harbor and discovering the mayflower, the first steamship ever built is a bristolian production. Continuing the walk, you’ll probably see a steam train started its journey. Bristol is a surprising city where street art is part of the landscape. He comes out of nowhere at a time when you do not expect.

J’ai ensuite fait une pause à la marina pour voir un cours de bateau à voile. Cet endroit m’a beaucoup fait penser aux alentours du lac d’Annecy. Surtout ne faites pas comme moi et faites bien attention aux panneaux pour ne pas quitter la chemin de la promenade. Je me suis un peu perdue et j’ai dû rebrousser chemin. Plus simple encore, il y a des ferry qui font le tour du port alternative qui met les jambes beaucoup moins à l’épreuve.

I then paused at the marina to see a sail boat classes. This place reminds me a lot around Lake Annecy. Especially do not like me and watch out for the signs not to leave the path of the walk. I got a little lost and had to turn back. Even simpler, there are ferries that go around the harbor alternative that puts much less legs to the test.

Retour au centre ville pour visiter la cathédrale de Bristol. Son architecture mi romane mi gothique font de ce lieu saint un monument imposant. Après l’office du matin, vous pouvez vous rendre au coffee shop pour boire un café ou méditer dans le jardin de la cathédrale.

Back in the city center to visit Bristol Cathedral. His mid Gothic mid Roman architecture make this holy place an imposing monument. After the morning service, you can go to the coffee shop for a coffee or meditate in the garden of the Cathedral.

On continue la balade dans une des rues les plus commerçantes: Park Street . En remontant la rue, vous passerez devant la prestigieuse université de Bristol.

We continue the ride in one of the most commercial streets, Park Street. Going up the street you will pass the prestigious University of Bristol.
