Benefits of avocado oil
Avocado oil is a thick, heavy, fast absorbing oil derived from avocado seeds. Its botanical name is persea gratissima. Refined avocado oil is pale yellow in color while unrefined avocado oil is dark green. Refined avocado oil barely has an odor, but unrefined avocado oil smells of hazelnut. I started using avocado oil in my hair routines because it promotes hair growth but this oil also works wonders on the skin.
Avocado oil help hydrate and protect your skin from harmful UV rays and increase collagen metabolism. One of the qualities that sets avocado oil apart from other oils is the level of oleic acid it contains. Oleic acid is a fatty acid known to improve skin permeability. Oleic acid is what helps our skin open doors to accommodate nutrients and while most oils hover around 15% oleic acid composition, avocado is made up of 63% fatty acid! Avocado oil protects the skin by creating an antimicrobial barrier against harsh environmental elements like pollution.
Due to the high levels of oleic acid, avocado oil is a well-known « carrier oil ». This means that you can combine avocado oil with other essential oils so that the nutrients from those oils can be delivered to the skin and absorbed more efficiently. Another interesting fact about avocado oil is that it acts as a humectant, which locks in and preserves moisture in your skin. Humectants work by drawing water molecules to the skin either from moisture in the air or by binding to water molecules already present in your skin, increasing and improving the natural water content of your skin. body.
Avocado oil enhances the beauty of the skin, delivers nutrients deep into the skin, and helps maintain skin elasticity. The antioxidants found in avocados are responsible for relieving dry skin. Rich in vitamin E and omega-3 fatty acids, it will help cells function properly and reduce the appearance of inflammation. Avocado oil helps fight against the formation of wrinkles. It is one of the few oils that can be used to fight against fine lines around the eyes.
The benefits of licorice root
It is derived from the root of the licorice plant – Glycyrrhiza glabra. The root of the licorice plant includes phytochemicals that help protect and brighten your skin. It is a plant that grows in southern Europe and western Asia and has been used to treat various health problems. Its extract contains nearly 300 compounds with antiviral, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It is widely used in food, medicine, beverage, and skin care industries. It is used to treat skin conditions such as eczema and acne. It also has lightening and anti-aging properties. Glycyrrhizin has anti-inflammatory properties, which can reduce irritation, itching, and redness of the skin when used topically in formulations. It is widely used to treat psoriasis, rosacea, and atopic dermatitis. When your skin cells produce excess melanin only in some areas and normal amounts in others, it gives the skin an uneven appearance called hyperpigmentation. When the skin is exposed to free radicals in the body, the cells that generate melanin are damaged and produce more melanin than usual. It effectively helps remove dark spots and lightens them to give you an even skin tone. Licorice root extract contains glycyrrhizin, a very powerful antioxidant. When used topically, antioxidants protect your skin against damage from UV rays and free radicals from the sun. This, in turn, prevents premature aging. One of the most powerful and active compounds in licorice root extract is glabridin. It has skin lightening properties and prevents the production of the enzyme tyrosinase, which darkens the skin after exposure to the sun.
It is a light oily serum and really pleasant to apply although the oil synergy is enormous (7 oils in the composition). The skin absorbs the product almost instantly. The quality of the product is top notch. I think it is suitable for oily skin as the brand promises, provided you have a light hand which is not always easy because the product is almost as liquid as water. You tell me why someone with oily skin would put on an oily serum 🤔. Personally, I find oily serums more nourishing and therefore more effective.
But I am unable to measure how well it protects me against the pollution seen that I received it in July this year during the COVID 19 crisis and that therefore I limited my outings. 🤷🏾♀️ It gives me pretty skin but I don’t find it evens out my complexion.
I consider it a top because the product fits seamlessly into a skincare routine. It is non-comedogenic on normal skin.
